Privacy at a glance
General information
The following notes give a simple overview of what happens to your personal data when you visit this website. Personal data is any data by which you can be personally identified. For detailed information on data protection, please refer to the privacy policy set out below this text.
Data collection on our website
Who is responsible for collecting data on this website?
Data processing on this website is carried out by the website operator. You can find their contact details in the section “Note on the responsible body” in this privacy policy.
How do we collect your data?
Your data is collected in part because you provide it to us. This may be data you enter into a contact form, for example.
Other data is collected automatically or with your consent by our IT systems when you visit the website. This is mainly technical data (e.g. web browser, operating system or the time the page was accessed). This data is collected automatically as soon as you enter this website.
What do we use your data for?
Part of the data is collected to ensure the website is provided without errors. Other data may be used to analyze your user behavior.
What rights do you have regarding your data?
You have the right at any time to obtain information free of charge about the origin, recipients and purpose of your stored personal data. You also have a right to request the correction or deletion of this data. If you have given consent to data processing, you can withdraw that consent at any time with future effect. You also have the right, in certain circumstances, to request that the processing of your personal data be restricted. Furthermore, you have a right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.
You can contact us at any time about this and about any further questions on data protection.
Analytics tools and third-party tools
When you visit this website, your browsing behavior may be evaluated statistically. This is done mainly with what are known as analytics programs.
Detailed information about these analytics programs can be found in the privacy policy below.
Hosting and content delivery networks (CDN)
We host the content of our website with the following provider:
Amazon Web Services (AWS)
The provider is Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL,
38 Avenue John F. Kennedy,
1855 Luxembourg (hereinafter AWS).
When you visit our website, your personal data is processed on AWS servers. Personal data may also be transferred to the AWS parent company in the USA. The transfer of data to the USA is based on the EU standard contractual clauses.
Further information can be found in the AWS privacy policy.
AWS is used on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. We have a legitimate interest in presenting our website as reliably as possible. Where corresponding consent has been requested, processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and Section 25 (1) TDDDG, insofar as the consent covers the storage of cookies or access to information on the user’s device (e.g. device fingerprinting) within the meaning of the TDDDG. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
Data processing
We have concluded a data processing agreement (DPA) for the use of the service named above. This is a contract required by data protection law, ensuring that the provider processes the personal data of our website visitors only on our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.
General information and mandatory disclosures
Data protection
The operators of these pages take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with statutory data protection regulations and this privacy policy.
When you use this website, various items of personal data are collected. Personal data is data by which you can be personally identified. This privacy policy explains what data we collect and what we use it for. It also explains how and for what purpose this happens.
We would like to point out that data transmission over the internet (e.g. when communicating by email) can have security gaps. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.
Note on the responsible body
The controller for data processing on this website is:
Hailo Digital Hub GmbH & Co. KG
Aulweg 45
35392 Gießen
Telephone: +49 641 201038–00
Email: info@h16b.com
The controller is the natural or legal person who alone or jointly with others decides on the purposes and means of processing personal data (e.g. names, email addresses or similar).
Storage period
Unless a more specific storage period is stated within this privacy policy, your personal data remains with us until the purpose for processing it no longer applies. If you assert a justified request for deletion or withdraw consent to data processing, your data will be deleted unless we have other legally permissible grounds for storing your personal data (e.g. retention periods under tax or commercial law); in the latter case, deletion takes place once those grounds cease to apply.
General information on the legal bases for data processing on this website
If you have consented to data processing, we process your personal data on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR or Art. 9 (2) (a) GDPR, where special categories of data under Art. 9 (1) GDPR are processed. In the case of explicit consent to the transfer of personal data to third countries, processing is additionally based on Art. 49 (1) (a) GDPR. If you have consented to the storage of cookies or to access to information on your device (e.g. via device fingerprinting), processing is additionally based on Section 25 (1) TDDDG. Consent can be withdrawn at any time. If your data is required for the performance of a contract or for pre-contractual measures, we process your data on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR. We also process your data where it is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation, on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR. Processing may further be based on our legitimate interest under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The legal bases relevant in each individual case are set out in the following sections of this privacy policy.

Note on data transfers to the USA and other third countries
Among other things, we use tools from companies based in the USA or other third countries that are not secure under data protection law. When these tools are active, your personal data may be transferred to these third countries and processed there. We would like to point out that in these countries a level of data protection comparable to that of the EU cannot be guaranteed. US companies, for example, are obliged to release personal data to security authorities without you as the data subject being able to take legal action against this. It can therefore not be ruled out that US authorities (e.g. intelligence services) process, evaluate and permanently store your data held on US servers for surveillance purposes. We have no influence over these processing activities.
Withdrawal of your consent to data processing
Many data processing operations are only possible with your explicit consent. You can withdraw consent already given at any time. The lawfulness of data processing carried out up to the withdrawal remains unaffected.
Right to object to data collection in special cases and to direct marketing (Art. 21 GDPR)
Where data processing is based on Art. 6 (1) (e) or (f) GDPR, you have the right at any time to object to the processing of your personal data on grounds arising from your particular situation; this also applies to profiling based on these provisions. The respective legal basis on which processing is based can be found in this privacy policy. If you object, we will no longer process the personal data concerned unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the assertion, exercise or defense of legal claims (objection under Art. 21 (1) GDPR).
If your personal data is processed for direct marketing purposes, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you for such marketing; this also applies to profiling insofar as it is connected with such direct marketing. If you object, your personal data will no longer be used for direct marketing purposes (objection under Art. 21 (2) GDPR).
Right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority
In the event of breaches of the GDPR, data subjects have a right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the member state of their habitual residence, their place of work or the place of the alleged breach. This right exists without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy.
Right to data portability
You have the right to have data that we process automatically on the basis of your consent or in performance of a contract handed over to you or to a third party in a common, machine-readable format. If you request the direct transfer of the data to another controller, this will only be done where it is technically feasible.
Information, deletion and correction
Within the framework of the applicable statutory provisions, you have the right at any time to free information about your stored personal data, its origin and recipients and the purpose of the data processing and, where applicable, a right to correction or deletion of this data. You can contact us at any time about this and about any further questions on the subject of personal data.
Right to restriction of processing
You have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data. You can contact us about this at any time. The right to restriction of processing exists in the following cases:
If you dispute the accuracy of your personal data stored by us, we generally need time to verify this. For the duration of the review, you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data.
If the processing of your personal data was or is unlawful, you may request the restriction of data processing instead of deletion.
If we no longer need your personal data but you require it for the exercise, defense or assertion of legal claims, you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data instead of deletion.
If you have lodged an objection under Art. 21 (1) GDPR, your interests and ours must be weighed against each other. As long as it has not been determined whose interests prevail, you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data.
If you have restricted the processing of your personal data, this data — apart from being stored — may only be processed with your consent or for the assertion, exercise or defense of legal claims, or to protect the rights of another natural or legal person, or for reasons of important public interest of the European Union or a member state.
SSL and TLS encryption
For security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as orders or inquiries that you send to us as the site operator, this site uses SSL or TLS encryption. You can tell that a connection is encrypted by the browser address line changing from “http://” to “https://” and by the padlock symbol in your browser bar.
When SSL or TLS encryption is active, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.
Objection to advertising emails
We hereby object to the use of contact data published as part of our obligation to provide a legal notice for the purpose of sending unsolicited advertising and information material. The operators of this website expressly reserve the right to take legal action in the event of the unsolicited sending of advertising information, such as spam e-mails.
Data collection on this website
Cookies
Our web pages use what are known as “cookies”. Cookies are small data packets and do no harm to your device. They are stored on your device either temporarily for the duration of a session (session cookies) or permanently (permanent cookies). Session cookies are deleted automatically at the end of your visit. Permanent cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them yourself or until your web browser deletes them automatically.
Cookies may originate from us (first-party cookies) or from third-party companies (so-called third-party cookies). Third-party cookies enable certain services of third-party companies to be integrated within web pages (e.g. cookies for processing payment services).
Cookies have various functions. Many cookies are technically necessary, as certain website functions would not work without them (e.g. the shopping cart function or the display of videos). Other cookies may be used to evaluate user behavior or for advertising purposes.
Cookies that are required to carry out the electronic communication process, to provide certain functions you have requested (e.g. for the shopping cart function) or to optimize the website (e.g. cookies for measuring the web audience) — necessary cookies — are stored on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, unless another legal basis is stated. The website operator has a legitimate interest in storing necessary cookies for the technically error-free and optimized provision of its services. Where consent to the storage of cookies and comparable recognition technologies has been requested, processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of that consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and Section 25 (1) TDDDG); consent can be withdrawn at any time.
You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and only allow cookies in individual cases, exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or in general, and activate the automatic deletion of cookies when the browser is closed. If cookies are deactivated, the functionality of this website may be limited.
Which cookies and services are used on this website can be found in this privacy policy.
Consent with Cookiebot
Our website uses Cookiebot consent technology to obtain your consent to the storage of certain cookies on your device or to the use of certain technologies, and to document this in compliance with data protection law. The provider of this technology is Cybot A/S, Havnegade 39, 1058 Copenhagen, Denmark (hereinafter “Cookiebot”).
When you enter our website, a connection is established to Cookiebot’s servers in order to obtain your consent and other declarations regarding the use of cookies. Cookiebot then stores a cookie in your browser so that the consent granted or its withdrawal can be attributed to you. The data collected in this way is stored until you ask us to delete it, delete the Cookiebot cookie yourself, or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies. Mandatory statutory retention obligations remain unaffected.
Cookiebot is used in order to obtain the legally required consent for the use of cookies. The legal basis for this is Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR.
Data processing
We have concluded a data processing agreement (DPA) for the use of the service named above. This is a contract required by data protection law, ensuring that the provider processes the personal data of our website visitors only on our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.
Contact form
If you send us inquiries via the contact form, the details you provide in the inquiry form, including the contact details you enter there, will be stored by us for the purpose of processing the inquiry and in case of follow-up questions. We do not pass this data on without your consent.
This data is processed on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where your inquiry is connected with the performance of a contract or is necessary for pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, processing is based on our legitimate interest in effectively handling the inquiries addressed to us (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR) or on your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR) where this has been requested; consent can be withdrawn at any time.
The data you enter in the contact form remains with us until you ask us to delete it, withdraw your consent to storage, or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies (e.g. once your inquiry has been dealt with). Mandatory statutory provisions — in particular retention periods — remain unaffected.
Enquiry by email or telephone
If you contact us by email or telephone, your inquiry including all resulting personal data (name, inquiry) will be stored and processed by us for the purpose of dealing with your request.
The data you send us in connection with contact inquiries remains with us until you ask us to delete it, withdraw your consent to storage, or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies (e.g. once your request has been dealt with). Mandatory statutory provisions — in particular statutory retention periods — remain unaffected.
Social media
This website uses elements of the LinkedIn network. The provider is LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, Wilton Plaza, Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland.
Each time a page of this website containing LinkedIn elements is accessed, a connection to LinkedIn servers is established. LinkedIn is informed that you have visited this website with your IP address. If you click LinkedIn’s “Recommend” button while logged into your LinkedIn account, LinkedIn is able to attribute your visit to this website to you and your user account. We would like to point out that, as the provider of these pages, we have no knowledge of the content of the data transmitted or of its use by LinkedIn.
Where consent has been obtained, the service named above is used on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and Section 25 TDDDG. Consent can be withdrawn at any time. Where no consent has been obtained, the service is used on the basis of our legitimate interest in the broadest possible visibility on social media.
The transfer of data to the USA is based on the standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission.
Further information can be found in the LinkedIn privacy policy.
Analytics tools and advertising
General information on data processing by Google
This website uses various services provided by Google Ireland Limited (“Google”), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. These include in particular Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google conversion tracking.
When these services are used, various items of personal data may be transmitted to Google. These include in particular the IP address, the URL of the page accessed, information about the browser and device used, and details of the actions carried out on this website.
Google may use this data among other things to provide and improve its services, to compile statistics, to measure the effectiveness of advertising and to detect and prevent fraud and misuse. Where corresponding consent is in place, the data may also be used to personalize content and advertising.
Google may also use automatically transmitted information to recognize devices or browsers and to attribute certain activities to a device or browser.
Insofar as processing for analytics and personalization purposes requires consent, it only takes place if you have previously given corresponding consent via Cookiebot. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
For further information on how Google processes data when websites or apps use Google services, see: How Google uses data from sites or apps that use its services
Google Tag Manager
We use Google Tag Manager. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
Google Tag Manager is a tool that allows us to integrate tracking or statistics tools and other technologies on our website. Google Tag Manager itself does not create user profiles, does not store cookies and does not carry out any independent analysis. It merely serves to manage and deliver the tools integrated through it. However, Google Tag Manager does record your IP address, which may also be transferred to Google’s parent company in the United States.
Google Tag Manager is used on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the quick and straightforward integration and management of various tools on its website.
Google Analytics
This website uses functions of the web analytics service Google Analytics. The provider is Google Ireland Limited (“Google”), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
Google Analytics enables the website operator to analyze the behavior of website visitors. In doing so, the website operator receives various usage data, such as page views, time on page, operating systems used and the origin of the user. This data is combined into a user ID and assigned to the respective device of the website visitor.
With Google Analytics we can also record your mouse and scroll movements and clicks. Google Analytics further uses various modelling approaches to supplement the data records collected and uses machine learning technologies in data analysis.
Google Analytics uses technologies that enable the user to be recognized for the purpose of analyzing user behavior (e.g. cookies or device fingerprinting). The information collected by Google about the use of this website is generally transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there.
This service is used on the basis of your consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and Section 25 (1) TDDDG. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
The transfer of data to the USA is based on the standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission.
Browser plug-in
You can prevent the collection and processing of your data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at the following link.
For more information on how Google Analytics handles user data, see the Google privacy policy.
Data processing
We have concluded a data processing agreement with Google and fully implement the strict requirements of the German data protection authorities when using Google Analytics.
Google conversion tracking
This website uses Google conversion tracking. The provider is Google Ireland Limited (“Google”), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. With the help of Google conversion tracking, Google and we can recognize whether the user has carried out certain actions.
For example, we can evaluate which buttons on our website were clicked how often and which products were viewed or purchased particularly frequently. This information is used to compile conversion statistics.
We learn the total number of users who clicked on our ads and which actions they carried out. We do not receive any information by which we could personally identify the user.
Google itself uses cookies or comparable recognition technologies for identification. This service is used on the basis of your consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and Section 25 (1) TDDDG. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
For more information on Google conversion tracking, see the Google privacy terms.
Meta pixel (formerly Facebook pixel)
For conversion measurement, this website uses the visitor action pixel from Facebook/Meta. The provider of this service is Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland. According to Facebook, however, the data collected is also transferred to the USA and to other third countries.
The Meta pixel makes it possible to track the behavior of site visitors after they have been redirected to the provider’s website by clicking on a Facebook ad.
This allows the effectiveness of Facebook ads to be evaluated for statistical and market research purposes and future advertising measures to be optimized.
The data collected is anonymous for us as the operator of this website; we cannot draw any conclusions about the identity of users.
However, the data is stored and processed by Facebook, so that a link to the respective user profile is possible and Facebook can use the data for its own advertising purposes in accordance with the Facebook data use policy.
This enables Facebook to place ads on Facebook pages as well as outside Facebook. We as the site operator cannot influence this use of the data.
This service is used on the basis of your consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and Section 25 (1) TDDDG. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
Insofar as personal data is collected on our website with the help of the tool described here and forwarded to Facebook, we and Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland are jointly responsible for this data processing (Art. 26 GDPR). This joint responsibility is limited exclusively to the collection of the data and its transfer to Facebook. The processing carried out by Facebook after the transfer is not part of the joint responsibility. The obligations incumbent on us jointly have been set out in a joint processing agreement. Click here for the exact wording of the joint processing agreement. Under this agreement, we are responsible for providing the data protection information when using the Facebook tool and for implementing the tool on our website in a manner that is secure under data protection law. Facebook is responsible for the data security of the Facebook products. You can assert data subject rights (e.g. requests for information) regarding the data processed by Facebook directly with Facebook. If you assert data subject rights with us, we are obliged to forward them to Facebook.
The transfer of data to the USA is based on the standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission.
Further information on protecting your privacy can be found in the Facebook privacy notices.
You can also deactivate the “Custom Audiences” remarketing function in the ad settings area. To do so, you must be logged in to Facebook.
If you do not have a Facebook account, you can deactivate usage-based advertising from Facebook on the website of the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance.
Plug-ins and tools
Google Fonts
For the uniform display of fonts, this site uses what are known as Google Fonts, provided by Google. The Google Fonts are installed locally. No connection to Google servers takes place.
Further information on Google Fonts can be found at https://developers.google.com/fonts/faq and in the Google privacy policy.
E-commerce and payment providers
Processing of customer and contract data
We collect, process and use personal customer and contract data for the establishment, content arrangement and amendment of our contractual relationships. We collect, process and use personal data about the use of this website (usage data) only insofar as this is necessary to enable the user to use the service or to bill for it. The legal basis for this is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR.
The customer data collected is deleted after completion of the order or termination of the business relationship and expiry of any applicable statutory retention periods. Statutory retention periods remain unaffected.
Audio and video conferencing
Data processing
Among other things, we use online conference tools to communicate with our customers. The tools we use in detail are listed below. When you communicate with us by video or audio conference via the internet, your personal data is collected and processed by us and by the provider of the respective conference tool.
The conference tools collect all data that you provide or use in order to use the tools (email address and/or your telephone number). The conference tools also process the duration of the conference, the start and end (time) of participation in the conference, the number of participants and other “context information” in connection with the communication process (metadata).
The provider of the tool also processes all technical data required to handle the online communication. This includes in particular IP addresses, MAC addresses, device IDs, device type, operating system type and version, client version, camera type, microphone or speakers and the type of connection.
Where content is exchanged, uploaded or otherwise made available within the tool, this is also stored on the servers of the tool providers. Such content includes in particular cloud recordings, chat and instant messages, voicemails, uploaded photos and videos, files, whiteboards and other information shared while using the service.
Please note that we do not have full influence over the data processing operations of the tools used. Our options are largely governed by the corporate policy of the respective provider. Further information on data processing by the conference tools can be found in the privacy policies of the tools used, which we have listed below this text.
Purpose and legal bases
The conference tools are used to communicate with prospective or existing contractual partners or to offer certain services to our customers (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). The use of the tools also serves to generally simplify and speed up communication with us and our company (legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Where consent has been requested, the tools in question are used on the basis of that consent; consent can be withdrawn at any time with future effect.
Storage period
The data we collect directly via the video and conference tools is deleted from our systems as soon as you ask us to delete it, withdraw your consent to storage, or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies. Stored cookies remain on your device until you delete them. Mandatory statutory retention periods remain unaffected.
We have no influence over the storage period of your data that is stored by the operators of the conference tools for their own purposes. For details, please contact the operators of the conference tools directly.
Conference tools used
We use the following conference tools:
Microsoft Teams
We use Microsoft Teams. The provider is Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, Ireland. Details on data processing can be found in the Microsoft Teams privacy policy: https://privacy.microsoft.com/de-de/privacystatement.
Data processing
We have concluded a data processing agreement (DPA) for the use of the service named above. This is a contract required by data protection law, ensuring that the provider processes the personal data of our website visitors only on our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.
Our own services
Handling of applicant data
We offer you the opportunity to apply to us (e.g. by email, by post or via an online application form). Below we inform you about the scope, purpose and use of the personal data collected from you in the course of the application process. We assure you that the collection, processing and use of your data takes place in accordance with applicable data protection law and all other statutory provisions, and that your data is treated in strict confidence.
Scope and purpose of data collection
If you send us an application, we process the personal data associated with it (e.g. contact and communication data, application documents, notes taken during interviews and so on) insofar as this is necessary to decide on the establishment of an employment relationship. The legal basis for this is Section 26 BDSG under German law (initiation of an employment relationship), Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (general pre-contractual measures) and — where you have given consent — Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. Consent can be withdrawn at any time. Within our company, your personal data is passed on exclusively to persons involved in processing your application.
If the application is successful, the data you submit will be stored in our data processing systems on the basis of Section 26 BDSG and Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR for the purpose of carrying out the employment relationship.
Data retention period
If we are unable to make you a job offer, you decline a job offer or you withdraw your application, we reserve the right to retain the data you have submitted on the basis of our legitimate interests (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR) for up to six months from the end of the application process (rejection or withdrawal of the application). The data is then deleted and physical application documents destroyed. Retention serves in particular as evidence in the event of legal proceedings. If it is apparent that the data will be required after the six-month period has expired (e.g. because of imminent or pending legal proceedings), deletion only takes place once the purpose for continued retention no longer applies.
Longer retention may also take place if you have given corresponding consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR) or if statutory retention obligations prevent deletion.
Inclusion in the applicant pool
If we do not make you a job offer, there may be an opportunity to include you in our applicant pool. If you are included, all documents and details from the application are transferred to the applicant pool so that we can contact you if suitable vacancies arise.
Inclusion in the applicant pool takes place exclusively on the basis of your explicit consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). Giving consent is voluntary and has no bearing on the ongoing application process. The data subject can withdraw their consent at any time. In that case, the data is irrevocably deleted from the applicant pool unless there are statutory grounds for retention.
The data in the applicant pool is irrevocably deleted no later than two years after consent is given.
